Toyota: methodology and tools

Mr. Fern’s presentation will outline the Toyota methodologies for designing the new car and for procuring the parts. He will discuss “value engineering” and “target costing” which are the tools Toyota employs to control quality and cost. He will also discuss how the failure of value engineering has led to Toyota’s recent problems. New product development projects that employ the Toyota methodology and tools are likely to produce greater profits than those which do not.
